What is the Hope To Thrive Food Pantry?
The Hope To Thrive Food Pantry is a free food distribution program serving our community through rescued and donated food.
Our pantry generally operates as a choice-based pantry, meaning participants are invited to select from the foods available that day. The amount and variety of food available may vary depending on what we receive through our food rescue and community partnerships.
Is the food free?
Yes. Food distributed through the Hope To Thrive Pantry is provided free of charge.
There is no requirement to purchase anything in order to receive food.
Do I need to register before coming?
Registration is generally required for our scheduled pantry distributions so that we can organize participants and serve everyone as efficiently as possible.
After you register, your name is placed in our registration system and you will be assigned to a group or called according to the order in which registrations are received.
When does registration open?
For the Sunday pantry, registration generally opens on Wednesday and generally closes on Friday.
Registration schedules may vary for other pantry locations and distribution days. Please check the specific registration form and current pantry announcements for the most accurate information.
How will I know when to come?
After you register, Hope To Thrive will call participants by name according to the registration order and the group schedule.
For the Sunday pantry, participants are generally organized into 15-minute arrival groups.
Sunday Arrival Groups
Group A — 3:45 PM
Participants assigned to Group A should plan to arrive around 3:45 PM.
Group B — 4:00 PM
Participants assigned to Group B should plan to arrive around 4:00 PM.
Group C — 4:15 PM
Participants assigned to Group C should plan to arrive around 4:15 PM.
Group D — Walk-In / Flexible Arrival
Group D is used for walk-in participants and other participants who are not assigned to one of the scheduled arrival groups.
Walk-ins may arrive during the pantry’s operating period. Please follow the instructions of the pantry volunteers when you arrive.
Please do not assume that registering means you should arrive immediately. Wait for your name or group instructions so we can maintain an orderly distribution.
Why do you use groups?
The group system helps us prevent overcrowding and long lines and allows our volunteers to serve participants in an organized and respectful manner.
It also helps us manage the amount of food available and maintain a smooth choice-based shopping experience.
Can I choose the food I receive?
Generally, yes.
Hope To Thrive uses a choice-based pantry model whenever possible.
The specific choices available depend on the food we receive that day.
Because our food comes largely through food rescue and donations, we cannot guarantee that a particular food item will be available at every distribution.
What happens when I arrive?
When you arrive:
- Check in with a Hope To Thrive volunteer.
- Give your name.
- Wait for your name to be called or for a volunteer to direct you.
- Follow the pantry shopping or Grab & Go instructions for that day’s distribution.
- Select from the food available, according to the pantry’s guidelines for that distribution.
Our volunteers are there to help you understand the process.
How much food can I receive?
The amount of food available may vary depending on the amount and type of food we receive.
Food may be distributed by weight and/or according to the available food supply and pantry guidelines for that day.
Our goal is to distribute food fairly while making the most of what has been donated or rescued.
Can I request a specific type of food?
You may let us know about a special dietary or other circumstance.
For example, you may have a need for:
- Vegetarian food
- Vegan food
- Certain dietary considerations
- A birthday cake or cupcakes for a special celebration
- Other specific food needs
We cannot guarantee that we can fulfill a particular request, but we will consider requests based on our capacity, time, available food, and resources.
What if I have difficulty getting to the pantry?
If transportation, mobility, scheduling, or another circumstance makes it difficult for you to come to the regular pantry location, please complete our Special Consideration Form.
This allows us to understand your circumstances and determine whether another arrangement may be possible.
Depending on our capacity, time, and resources, we may be able to consider:
- An alternative pickup arrangement
- Delivery
- A special food request
- Another reasonable way to connect you with available food
Special requests are considered on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed.
Can Hope To Thrive deliver food to me?
You may request delivery through the Special Consideration Form.
Delivery is not guaranteed and depends on:
- Volunteer availability
- Transportation
- Distance
- Time
- Food availability
- The circumstances described in your request
Our goal is to help whenever we have the capacity and resources to do so.
Can I request a birthday cake or cupcakes?
You may submit a request through the Special Consideration Form.
For example, if you have a child’s birthday or another special celebration and would like to request a cake or cupcakes, let us know.
We will consider the request based on what is available and whether we have the capacity and resources to fulfill it.
We cannot guarantee special-request items.
What if I am vegetarian or vegan?
Please indicate your dietary needs through the Special Consideration Form.
We will consider vegetarian, vegan, and other dietary requests when possible.
Because our pantry depends on donated and rescued food, we cannot guarantee that a particular dietary item will be available.
What if I cannot come during my assigned time?
If you know that you cannot come during your assigned time, please contact Hope To Thrive or use the appropriate communication method provided with your registration.
We will do our best to accommodate changes when possible, but we cannot guarantee that another time will be available.
What if I miss my group?
Please speak with a pantry volunteer when you arrive.
We will determine the best way to serve you based on the current line, food availability, and pantry capacity.
capacity, time, available food, and resources.
Can I walk in without registering?
Walk-ins may be accommodated during designated pantry operations, depending on the day’s capacity and food availability.
Walk-in participants should follow volunteer instructions and may be placed in the Walk-In/Flexible Arrival group.
Registration is encouraged because it helps us plan for the number of people we expect to serve.
Special requests are considered on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed.
Why does the food selection sometimes change?
Our pantry receives food through food rescue, grocery partnerships, donations, and community partners.
Because of this, the available food changes from day to day.
One week we may have a large amount of produce, while another week we may have more bread, meat, prepared foods, or other items.
We encourage participants to remain flexible and explore the choices available that day.
What happens if there is bad weather?
Hope To Thrive has a weather safety protocol.
If thunder or lightning occurs, we may:
A. Pause and wait
We may temporarily stop distribution and wait for conditions to become safe.
B. Relocate or change the distribution time
If possible, we may pack up and move to another location or continue at another time.
C. Cancel
If conditions remain unsafe, the distribution may be cancelled.
Participant and volunteer safety comes first.
Please monitor the Shopper Chat for weather-related updates.
How will I know about delays or changes?
Hope To Thrive uses participant and volunteer communication channels to provide updates.

What if I have a circumstance that is not covered here?
We understand that people’s circumstances are different.
Please use our Special Consideration Form to tell us what you need.
We will review requests based on our available capacity, time, volunteers, food, transportation, and other resources.
We may not always be able to meet a request, but we will consider it whenever possible.
What is the best way to think about the Hope To Thrive Pantry?
Our pantry is the public location for our free food giveaway.
We provide food with dignity and, whenever possible, allow participants to make choices about the food they receive.
At the same time, our food supply is dependent on what our grocery and community partners provide.
Register → Wait for your name/group → Arrive at your assigned time → Check in → Choose from what’s available → Receive food with dignity.
Where Hope Takes Root
